I had originally planned on having to go to several different JB's to do 6 different trade transactions.?  But since I had all the games with me (18 in total), I just asked the dude if I could trade them for 6 copies of Batman AA.?  He said yes, but pointed out he would have to do 6 individual transactions - hey, I didn't mind.?  So even though I used 4 copies of F.E.A.R. Files, 4 copies of Alaskan Adventure, 2 copies of Lego Star Wars, etc., he just made sure that each of the trade transactions didn't feature multiples.

It helped that the store was quiet at 10am on a weekday, as he had little else to do but process other orders; if it had been midday on a Saturday, that might be a different story as he would have been flat out.?  I also did the kind thing and removed all the EB Games stickers before hand, so he saw that he didn't have as much work to process my stuff.

So, with these 6 copies of Batman AA I merely went back an hour later and got one of the regular counter staff/managers to exchange all 6 copies for store credit: 6 x $99 = $594 gift card.

You just have to make sure you get sealed copies of the Batman AA game (which sit behind the counter), or get them to put the yellow "JB HiFi" tape over unsealed versions.?  If it is not sealed you can't return it for credit.

Total time involved: 50 mins (including hunting all the games at EB).

Are you guys serious you never thought of this?

D

That's some serious trading. I would probably give it a shot (on a smaller scale) but as pointed out, the Buy 2/Get 1 sale is over and the current prices don't make it as worthwhile. I'm happy enough just getting a personal copy for $40, but I should keep my eye out for opportunities to do this in future - it could make a PS3 purchase a LOT cheaper.

There was a guy on whirlpool who did the same thing with EB.  Ended up with $7000 in profit ($ and credit).  Funny thing was he was banned eventually from EB for doing it.  At least he understood why he was banned and didn't have a whinge about it.  Smart guy though, must of been a ton of transactions to get that much in actual profit.

Thanks heaps Klevster !!

Your a legend!

I went to an EB store in Castle Hill, and even though promo for "buy 2 get 1 free" was over, manager said it'd be alright to do it.
Guess business was slow, and he still hadn't finished peeling those 2 for 1 stickers off.

I ended up getting 2 copies of "Fear" and 1 copy of "the club", then went to JB Hifi and "Voila!"

Got myself a new copy of PS3 Batman AA.

JB Hifi, said they normally don't accept the 2 of the same copies in one transaction, but if it is for one game, depending on which sales staff you get, they might do it.

But if you've got a whole bunch of the same game wanting store credit etc.. most likely they won't do it!!

In the end I got my copy of Batman AA for 43.50 which is still a bargain!! Yippee!

Lets just hope EB or JB Hifi get into this forum..

Jesus, you were lucky... FEAR and The Club are on the Exclusions list :S

Be wary young players, JB has an Exclusion list and normally do not accept games on this list...

Consider yourself very fortunate! Wink

I'm just thinking, I could buy 9 games for the price of 6 for an average of about $120, then go to JB, and say 3 copies of Batman: AA please. Then 2 minutes later come back in the store and say "can I have a gift card for all of this", they'd do that? Because I was reading the NSW JB T&C's and it says that JB doesn't give in-store credit for traded games.

Adrian, you're correct - the NSW JBs will not do this, the VIC (and presumably other states) might (no certainty of will, but they're more likely to).

But I mean, if I'm returning games that I purchased with the credit of the 3 for 1, what would I get in return? My games back, or something else?
