I have my reasons to complain about all of them

Wii - an online system on par with hitting myself in the head with a hammer
360 - putting said hammer in the same room with a 360 may scare the **** out of it and make it red ring itself
PS3 - $700 with no backwards compatibility, no thank you!
DS - Again with Nintendo's online system being a b****
PSP - WHERES THE BLOODY 2nd ANALOG STICK!!! Also Australia is still waiting on Jeanne D'arc which pissed me off

I declare the winner of this console gen to be the Playstation 2!

Wii - Obsessed wit hits new fangled control system to the point that they shoehorn it into every game, even those that would be var better off with traditional controls.
DS - See above, as nintendo obviously believes beating a head horse is more fun when the horse fits in your pocket, comes with a stylus that breaks when you breathe on it, gets lost easily, has cracked hinges, but at least it comes in a million different colors!
PSP - can't decide what on earth it wants to be when it grows up.
PS3 - Big, black, Ugly grown up version of the PSP, that still tries to be so many things it has yet to get any of them right.
360  - Louder is not better.
PS2 - Has a million games, seemingly all of them requiring their own unique imput device.

I love all my consoles, but its fun to make fun of their shortcomings.  I have got the most fun out of the PS2, but only because I have had it for sooo much longer.  I have actually played the x360 far more than the others, so right now I would have to say that is my favorite.  Even if I have to play with headphones so  Idon't hear the damn thing grinding along.  sooo loud!

Wow, such angst here.

Where do i start, the Wii online system is free, and although ****, nobody forces you to use it anyways, I know I barely do. Online systems hardly define the console.
PSP has some great games, *and* it can be a good portable media device/internet access device, for the price it's great.
PS3: like the PSP, is a great media hub, better than the 360 I'd say. And it has the ability to legitimately install another OS on the system, so you can use it effectively as another PC.
360: yep, it's louder, but does that make the games any less enjoyable?
PS2: it's only recently since the dawn of peripheral games that the issue of lots of controllers has arisen, and it's just as prevalent on other platforms.

but yeah, enough with the whinging please.

All the consoles have their negatives, but surely it's the games you play on them, rather than other failings of the console which define it?

for the record, my 360, even after RROD, is still my favourite, through being my most played.

Did you have a bad day man?  Cos its pretty obvious we were both having a laugh.  At least I certainly was.
Also note I did say I love all my consoles.  I actually disagree quite a bit with most of what you just said, but I will let is slide for now.  I respectfully suggest you lighten up and have fun with the topic.  Its worth a laugh, and its a site better than starting another console war.

I love my Nintendo DS, personally its my favourite console of all time. Although the N64 gave me some really sweet multiplayer which is hard to top.

What I hate about the Wii is the lack of games. Nintendo just wound up a brilliant 12 months and then ended it with Brawl. Now there is nothing more! What a joke. The Xbox 360 is loud as hell and I cant wait for the new dashboard update to stop it. Finally, the PS3 is also lacking the games but also has a controller I do not like using and is too expensive for a cheap ass like me. Since I dont own a HD TV I dont care about BluRay and I really hate how our XBL is gimped when it comes down to TV services.

The Xbox 360 comes out on top there because while the reliability might be a concern, mine is still working and until (if ever) it fails Ill be able to play one of its many great (and cheap) titles and do so with XBL. Failure rate of a console doesnt effect your gaming, its the actual failure that does.

The Wii is my favourite. Because I only own Wii and DS and the DS doesn't have many games that really interest me right now and the Wii does.

Although my Wii disc drive decided to stop working so I have to use my DS for awhile.

To be fair.. and this is not a bias based comment as I personally could not care less.. but the lack of downloadable content on xbl for AU is due to licensing. Not specifically the actual license itself, but balancing that against the revenue it would return against the location.  The fact is that Australia has insanely expensive (comparitively speaking) internet access.  Most Australians can not afford, or are not interested in paying, hundreds of dollars a month for internet, then paying for what they download as well.  Balmer knows this (what with him being an obvious Genius.. just look on youtube for proof) and as such is not interested in pouring money into a comparatively very limited consumer base.

Of course you could just set yourself up with a US account and get what ever you wanted.

May I ask what this new Dashboard is?  I thought it was just the .. "OS".. or interface when not in game.  How can that make it quieter?  Or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

They are overhauling the entire dashboard and adding in a number of features. One lets you install the game on the HDD so the disc doesnt need to be spinning - so its quieter.

Ahh.. rite.  Actually I already knew about that.  I just did not put two and two together. lol.
<-DUNCE
I actually quite like the idea of installing to the HDD.  I can see it being a really handy way to go about things. there is two reasons that it is a bit Meh, however. The first being that a 20gh HDD (soon to be discontinued and replaced with a 60gb) will be virtually useless for this, the 120gb will be useful, but will start filling way too quickly especially if users have other stuff n the HDD as well.

The second thing that makes installing games to the HDD a but meh, is the same reason I bought an Arcade, and have so far refused to buy a HDD.  They are obscenely expensive.  OBSCENELY expensive.  That same money could net you a 500gb HDD.  Considering it is a standard HDD, just enclosed in a propriety housing, the price of them is inexcusable.

Still, for me personally this will be the first thing I would actually consider a HDD even worth having, high price or no.  I will not buy one, because of the price thing, but now I will actually see a purpose for me, personally, to have one.  Everything else a HDD is used for on the x360 is of no use or simply does not interest me.

I think Ill manage with the 20GB. Right now its filled with demos Ill probably play once or twice more before I buy the game. The way I typically play games is one at a time so Ill just install the one game. A double sided DVD though is more than half the 13GB that the '20GB' HDD has. But like you I cant justify the cost of these things. Its terrible!
