CAUTION: Gameplus selling ASIAN version PS3 games, will be bad news for DLC user

hi, just wanted to give a little warning about gamesplus.com.au (formerly DVDCrave)

Generally ive found them to be quite a good shop, especially with their super fast deliveries, but I just received my PS3 game L.A. Noire and it is the ASIAN version of the game.

Yes i know all ps3 games are region-free, but the DLC is in fact REGION SPECIFIC. So you can see what sort of dilemma this is going to cause especially for these sort of games with lots of DLC. Anyone from Australia that buys it is going to find our they cant purchase the DLC unless they make an Asian PSN account. Gameplus has nothing in the item listings to specify that the games are Asian version.

I did intend to ask for a refund but after googleing a bit i was lucky to find a solution. DLC from a US PSN account is compatible with the ASIAN L.A. Noire, and I am lucky enough to also have a US PSN account.

The problem is there will be many many Australians out there that only have a AUS PSN account and will end up ripped off if they want to purchase DLC..

How do you identify if its an Asian version or not?
The text and region?
I try to steer away from Asian versions...

a few things give it away

the Australia classifications are stickers, not just part of the boxart
the game ID code will have an "A" not an "E" ie. BLAS-50342 instead of BLES-00933
printed in Singapore
the text "for more information visit http://asia.playstation.com"
a few words have Chinese translations added
also in the small text on rear there is nothing saying "licensed for use only in"

just make sure to check out the rear cover, the front covers are pretty much identical (besides the sticker)
