Ruster: Do you work for Fishpond or know someone who does by any chance? Your first post seems to be very pro-Fishpond, to the point where you seemed to be ok if you did not receive them.
I think most people here are upset because of the lack of communication, or the samey-ness of the communication that did not answer their questions.
Yes, the points may have been received in the end, but that doesn't mean that all should be forgiven so quickly. If goods and services are promised to you on a specific date, but they arrive significantly later with inadequate communication, is it ok to just say, "Yeah sure, they came through anyway, so they're forgiven."?
Most of us here paid upfront for goods. We don't know whether there was a problem with stock or not, but if Fishpond (and that goes for any other company online or bricks and mortar) didn't have the stock, then they shouldn't be charging people for goods that they don't actually have.

but I thought you'd say that. To be honest hell yeah I was pissed at the thought of not getting my points and hell yeah I was annoyed with the emails and what I thought wasn't honesty. But I look at it this way... I ordered the points on the 24th of May. Today is the 28th of June. One month is hardly the longest I've had to wait for something to arrive. Secondly, I got a discount on something that I wouldn't be able to any where else. I spent longer looking for points for a discount then I did waiting for them. If I hadn't received my points id be up and down this forum with the rest of you screaming "attack!!". But I did so im happy ! The only thing I would complain about, as you said, was the lack of honesty with the emails. I dont know why they were delayed but if they had been forthrite with the delivery time none of this would of happened. Other than that I got a $42 dollar saving on 9000 microsoft points and that will keep me happy far longer than its taken to receive them.

Good response. In all honesty, if I were in same situation with the Microsoft points, I would be extremely relieved and happy when the points were (finally) received.
And yes, it certainly would still be a bargain because, as you said, it is a discount (and a huge one at that) on something you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else.
The issue here though is the terrible communication and lack of honesty, deliberate or otherwise, from emails that have been received by Fishpond. If the Sony Playstation Network debacle has taught us anything, it's that poor communication is not only not tolerated, it is a very bad way of doing business.
Even if it is bad news, generally speaking, honesty and being upfront about something is usually appreciated. We don't know for certain if there was a genuine problem with the stock; it could very well have been. Could have been a lot of factors affecting the shipment, it could also have been that there wasn't stock in the first place and the stock needed to be ordered to fill orders.
We don't know any of this...what we DO know is that many people have purchased these points off Fishpond but have not received any satisfactory reply about what is going on. These are goods that have been paid for upfront so there is a level of expectation that the goods would be provided in a timely manner.
If you go to a bricks-and-mortar shop to purchase something, if there is a delay in being able to receive the goods, they need to tell you how long roughly it would be before stock will be available. And it is up to you to decide whether you want to wait that long. In this case, there isn't that same option. While Fishpond does inform customers of the delay, one would expect to be given accurate timely information. And you don't really get to make an immediate choice as to whether you're happy to wait or want an immediate refund. Getting a refund process takes ages!
Also, if negative posts have been deleted from Fishpond's Facebook site and users aren't able to provide negative reviews of their experiences, then it looks as if there is some sort of cover up from Fishpond's end. Whether this is really the case or not, certainly not a good look for them!
It's great that people are finally starting to receive their Microsoft points. That doesn't necessarily mean that their anger would be appeased though nor does it mean that they would necessarily shop with Fishpond again due to this negative experience.

Agree with iannozzie. Still not here. They should only sell them when they can dispatch them. They have lied, and no matter whether I get my points or not, that leaves a very sour taste.
I will never shop with them again. I'd rather spend the extra $20 for points that actually arrive.

The biggest issue here is Fishpond have been telling their customers that their items have been sent, when it certainly appears to be the case that they have not.
This means that we cannot cancel the order, change our minds or generally do anything that you can do when you're awaiting your order to be processed and mailed out, without receiving the item first, then sending it back with good reason. (Product is faulty, etc)
What I'm presuming is happening, is that Fishpond sends products direct to you from their suppliers, and that they are telling us they are shipped when they complete their own order with the supplier, not when the supplier actually gets around to sending the order to you.
I wasn't really bothered with the MS Points, since I only bought one card and didn't need them in the first place. I was annoyed however that my pre-order of Duke Nukem, (which said it was shipped the day before release), didn't show up until 3 weeks later.
Fishpond are certainly going to need to do alot of work to inspire confidence in me to ever order anything from them again...

Mine arrived today too! What an amazing coincidence, they were all lost in the mail and suddenly materialised into our respective mailboxes today.
I think Fishpond would be much better off being honest and telling us what actually happened rather than creating fake accounts here and continuing their dishonesty. Yes I'm talking to you 'Ruster'.

Aww, that sucks, I wanted to receive mine miraculously today too. Ruster might have waited well over a month for items from other places to arrive, but I haven't waited longer than three weeks for something - even from the states - to reach me since 2008 and I'm very intrigued as to how Ekaterina, Svetlana and the rest of the crew from Fishpond.com.au have managed to delay a postcard sized interstate parcel delivery for over a month. Like some of you, I was offered a refund or to have my item reordered on today, the 28th - and I will be taking the re-order option.
I've requested fishpond use some sort of service which actually tracks its items this time too, so when I go to the 'track my order' page it doesn't just say 'DURR IT'S SOMEWHERE BUT NOT HERE, WE PUT A TRACKING OPTION ON OUR SITE BECAUSE WE SAW OTHER SITES DOING IT EVEN THOUGH IT'S 100% USELESS WHEN WE ONLY SEND ITEMS VIA REGULAR AUSTRALIA POST.' It's probably not going to happen, but I'm going to ask anyway. Also, I am calling the ACCC tomorrow, like you others before me.

Points arrived today [NSW]
This whole thread and all the anger and frustration attached to it would not exist if fishpond had been honest and upfront from the beginning.
Why would any store go out of its way to damage its reputation and allow negative speculation to propagate, when all they needed to say was......
"Sorry there has been a delay with your order and it may take several weeks longer than originally anticipated, should you be unwilling to wait we can offer you a full refund as soon as we have your confirmation."

I'm in Geelong, same situation. Given that they may come internationally via Sydney then come down south I'll give them another day before filing a complaint. Has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, though. Never dealing with them again (and generally they've been pretty good up until now).
