Today I was in my local game traders (looking to scoop a bargain) when I started thinking about all the gaming gold in there that the public by enlarge rejected, for whatever reason (Cover art , game title, etc... )  GREAT games like Bothers in Arms : Hells highway, Beyond god and evil and anything Tim Schaffer has touched.

I was wondering what games you guys loved but didn't get a look in?

Enchanter Arms.

Most reviewers didn't play past the tutorial and slammed it as a result. Granted, the tutorial was 30 minutes of torture, but the game was fantastic.

Enchanted Arms was better than its reputation, I agree.  Enjoyed it enough to but the PS3 version simply to play it again with all the improvements and expanded content.  Not a great game, but certainly worth a mention in this sort of thread for those who want a basic, yet often hilarious jRPG fix on the cheap.

Tim Schaefer USED to have the midas touch, but then he made Psychonaughts and Brutal Legend, both aimed for awesome yet fell far short.  Psychonaughts has no excuse, but poor Brutal legend was abused so much in production I am surprised the end product was even playable at all.  Such a shame, as it could have been brilliant.

Beyond Good and Evil on the other hand was completely awesome.  It is an extremely rare game that I will play more than once (far too many games as yet unplayed to waste time with reruns) and this was one of them.  I even went so far as to but it on PS2, XBOX, and PC.  Completed each of them several times.  Well, accept the pointless Air Hockey minigame. Never did bother with that.

Two other PS2 games that did not get the love they deserved were PRIMAL and GHOST HUNTER.  Both games having some of the greatest characters and storytelling on the console.
Primal Video Review on Gamespot
Ghosthunter Review on GameSpot.

I love these kinds of threads.  Post away people. Share those overlooked Gems! Smiley

Divinity 2 was a ace RPG and is up there in my top ten games. Folklore was a fun game with a great story and excellent art style.

Beyond good & evil. I paid $10 for it... one of the best $10 spent! I really really really hope they do make the sequal (i think)

ICO!!!!! well it is popular now! as is shadow of the colossus! sigh wish i had got these years ago. Will definatley get the last guardian when it comes out just because it is linked to these.

Okay Im totally biased but Okami anyone?? Yes i know its like Zelda but its totally awsome (on PS2 anyway, still have not been brave enough to open my Wii copy!)

Introversion software, 'the last of the bedroom coders' [as in, 4 guys who lock themselves in their rooms and emerge, months later, with a completed game, how freaking awesome is that?] make minimalist-display games dripping with charisma and oldskool. Uplink was their first big hit, but if you want something more recent, find a copy of Defcon (Everyone Dies). They sell it on PC at stores like 'Game' in those Gamers Choice red cases that are usually Dawn of War and the like. Easily worth the $10 it costs.

Tabula Rasa

(RIP  Cry )

that was a brilliant game! got stuck into playing it in the months before Richard Garriot's flight into space.
It was such an awesome combination of 3rd (or 1st) person shooter and MMORPG. I dare say I would've kept playing it if they kept it around.

the background of this games demise is pretty fascinating too.

+1 for Freedom Force. Very easy to pick up and play. Very good musical score too.

Besides the ones already mentioned, "Silver" and "BladeRunner" on the PC.

Silver was probably ahead of it's time. Loved the control scheme and voice acting.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
I've given this game to people who'd never heard of the Wold of Darkness and they loved it.
