i honestly think with RDR the demand outweighed the amount they had in stock... and the email that was sent out to say that the item was "despatched" meant that your money was taken and they were waiting for more stock from the supplier before they actually posted it out...

shopto.net stopped taking pre-orders way before zavvi

Zavvi stink, IMO.

I wrote this at the end of last year:

I'm just reporting my first and only experience with this Zavvi.com and I have to say after the drama they've put me through this week, it will be the last.

First of all, last week I ordered a few games for my family for Xmas as my sister and her husband are getting a PS3 so I thought it would be a nice gift. Anyway, the whole process of buying and paying looks like any other site, so no issues there.

But then at the flick of a light, this whole thing turns into a freaking Three Stoogers routine....

1st Strike:

But about 45 minutes after I made payment, I get an email stating that items in my order are out of stock and need to be otained from distributers before sending. These were items that were all clearly marked as "in stock" when I made payment.

2nd Strike:

I get a phone call from my credit card company later in the day reporting some suspscious activity on it and wanted my authorisation on the transactions before processing them.

At this point my heart sinks because my paypal account was compromised earlier this year and I figured this was the problem again, but no, it's just "some charges from a site Zavvi.com" No worries there I say, those are cool. What he neglected to tell me was that there was six separate charges made......I only ordered three items.

3rd Strike:

So now Im contacting Zavvi about this and for starters it took them from Sunday till Friday morning @ 2:14am to get back to me and their response was "Sorry, it appears as if you've been charged twice for an item in your order. We will fix this soon."

Well no, I was charged twice for every single item in my order and this was now seven days ago. Still not reveresed out of my account.

4th Strike:

I was asking the girlfriend this morning if this one was probably the "funniest "of all. I had a second email in my inbox when I worke up this morning, also from Zavvi.

Like WTF is this? I didn't even try to cancel any part of this order, just complained about he three extra charges thye've made to my CC. Funnily enough this was the mysterious item in my order that wasn't in stock....yet they charged me for it (twice) and are now informing me that I can't back out because it's in stock....which is fine, because I NEVER ASKED FOR IT TO BE CANCELLED Who the hell is running the show over there?

The Wash up:

An order that should of cost me $125 has now cost $250 and as a result pushed my account balance into Debit and also now incurred a lovely $35 fee from the Commonwealth for the pleasure of dealing with Zavvi. The one game I reeeeeally wanted for my sister was Tekken and that isn't going to make it before we leave for Xmas. I have a headache from stewing over this all morningfind out that Im outta Advil and I recieved a -1 from a forum member in the Game Exchange for not paying for something. Well guess what? As a student I don't get paid till next Wednesday and am going to be hell to be around until then...so look out Brooke.

Christmas? Humbug.

hopefully some other potential buyers will see this thread and at least be prepared for the worst if they still choose to make an order

2nd Strike: Thats got nothing to do with Zavvi, thats your Bank doing a good job

3rd Strike: This could of been cause by a number of reasons, i.e you may of pressed 'confirm order' (or what ever) twice

not saying your wrong and their right, but just think its a couple things you should take into account

also just thinking out loud, the people that are complaining about long postage times where these orders around the time that ejhfiuwygcwrtyyw volcano erupted?

1. The second strike was a clear error from Zavvi, that they admitted to and paid back, including overdrawn fee's from CBA. The CBA were doing their job, correct. Zavvi were not.

2. And no, the "double charge" happened to a bunch of people over the same time frame. Genuine system error apparently. Again, they admitted fault and paid it back.

This all happened months ago and has long been forgotten about by me (I just won't shop there again) but I saw this thread and felt it was deserving of a menition. On the subject though, I still haven't got any resolution regarding Tekken 6 from them, it's not cancelled and still remains "awaiting stock"....which is hilarious, because I got it about two months ago from them.

I contacted Zavvi and they don't know where it is either, so they're sending me a form to fill out after which I'll get either a refund or replacement. So probably another 2 weeks turnaround for me (at best). I strongly suspect that they didn't have enough Limited Edition copies to cover their pre-orders and just pretended to send them to some people (such as you and I Boognish). It's odd that the only people who had problems were those who ordered Limited Editions, especially when Zavvi were selling the LE long after other online stores had stopped offering them (due to supply constraints).
