Hey guys,
Just out of common interest, who is your Internet Provider and what is the service like? Are you happy with what you are getting and what are the speeds like?

I am currently with Bigpond on the Cable Elite plan. I am very happy with the speeds of my service but unfortunately, I have to deal with sometimes constant dropouts.

If you wish you can copy and paste the link to your result from www.speedtest.net

My speeds are . Download speed isn't that great at the time being but upload speed is great!

Westnet, been with them for over 5 years, only on an ADSL plan, no support for ADSL2 at my exchange yet, I'm not going Telstra or Optus, so will wait when they do...

They were bought out by iiNet not that long ago, but service has remained solid...

I'm with TPG - i personally think they are pretty damn good apart from the occasional dropout

iinet - although even the best DSL2+ plan slows to a crawl between 5pm and 7pm in inner Melbourne (Richmond exchange) - great VoIP plans that dont suffer from QoS issues

This.  I'm on the 49.95 plan, 60+60 and extremely happy with it.  My results:

My uncle's going to join TPG on the ADSL2+ plan (I think 4+8 plan for $30). TPG's value for data is great too, and judging by your speeds Captain Orgazmo, VERY good value for what you pay =]

ADSL2+ would be nice, but since I can only get ADSL1 I think the $45 12GB peak / 60-80GB off peak plan with Exetel is the way to go.  cheapest price for the best quota.

Oh and I know they throttle P2P traffic, but I don't torrent, haven't done so for a couple of years now.  Usenet ftw.

Ive been on Bigpond liberty 12gb Cable plan for $59.95 for around 5yrs now. Would not recommend it to anyone as it is expensive and Telstra doesn't give a stuff about loyal customers. But when your choices are either Dial-up or Telstra cable nothing can be done.

Internode.  Only provider to offer ADSL2+ on our exchange besides Telstra.

Slightly more expensive than some of the competition, but very very classy.  They clearly 'get it'.  Good customer service, minimal disruptions, uploads don't count to quota.

I'm with Optus, not the best but it does the job most of the time. Would be good if their bandwidth caps matched the prices Tongue

Hey mate, just a bit curious on Optus' speeds. Are you on a cable or ADSL plan. Would you be able to run a speedtest on www.speedtest.net . It'd be interesting to compare Bigpond and Optus speeds.

Currently using iiNet ADSL1 and loving it. Mainly because of these reasons.

Freezone: Certain areas doesn't count towards your quota. Xbox Live Marketplace is all free quota (not LIVE gaming, Marketplace). 3FL Servers on Steam games like TF2 is free as well (even though those servers are like dead empty lol), Game Updates from 3FL.net........its like a gamers dream.

Rare problems: i've only had a speed slowdown once in the past 5-6 months, but that was for a short day.

Uploads don't count towards quota: I seed using torrents, if they counted, my quota usage would be up the roof!!

When you go over quota, you're capped: Even when i'm capped, i still download like a bulldog. No extra charges and freezone areas still download at max speed Cheesy

Problem? Can't get ADSL2+ and they have cheaper plans for that Sad. oh well, you can't be mad at them, its still free quota Cheesy
