Hey guys,
I've been using these forums for a while now for myself, but thought it was about time I post here

. I've been an employee at EB Games (In Melbourne) for a few years now, and used to manage one of the city stores (Have since stepped back to a casual role to make time for study).
Anyway, I just wanted to confirm a few policies for you guys, since you've all saved me some serious cash in the past, thought I'd return the favor.
EB is
definately offering the $95 Trade Back value, you'll be able to find the fliers for it at your local store. Most of you will recognize this trade scheme from Halo ODST or GTA4, we do it on most new release titles.
It's really important to note that EB definately will only take
one copy of a title for trade in per-customer. So you can't grab MW2 on the cheap elsewhere and come trade it in to us for the higher value.
As far as getting cash for games, you can't do it on the trade-in scheme. As it says on the bottom of the flier, it's store credit only. However, you should be able to get a gift-card for this (I know my store is allowing this).
I can't speak for other states, but in Victoria it is the
managers discretion in terms of trading in for cash. Most of the city stores won't do it because there is a massive risk of trading in stolen games. However, the smaller stores do trade for cash. You are correct that a trade for cash yields 20% less value than a trade for store credit.
I noticed someone said EB won't be pricematching at the midnight launches - definately can tell you that's not true. Whichever store is doing that will be the exception, as we haven't been told not to price match on the midnight launch.
Really hope to see alot of you guys for the midnight launches tonight, there's alot of really fun events planned and I personally can't wait. If you're in the Melbourne area, hop down to the Knox Midnight Launch, it's going to be crazy, lots of cool stuff planned.
If anyone's got any EB-related questions they'd like answered by a veteran, feel free to ask me or send me a PM. I would ask however that you don't ask me questions like 'Why are your prices so high' or 'Why does X game trade for this much?'. These are Head Office decisions and I don't have insight on that.
Oh, and one last tip. If you
are planning to Price-Match, do yourself a favor and bring us the catalogue or print-out of the price you're planning on matching. We have been told to be extremely vigilant on scammers or people who might try to make up prices, but price matching is part of our policy and we're happy to do it if it's legit. We'll only march in-store prices, not online catalogue prices, so if you can try to bring a store catalogue with you. If you can't find one, bring the printed one and if we've confirmed it previously (Most stores do call arounds to suss out what our competitors are doing) we can do it for you. If you're really worried about us matching it or not, pop into your local store during the day and ask us to call the store you're wanting to pricematch so we can confirm the price before midnight.
Hope this helps all
