Long story short, I've never really traded anything in before. Mainly because I'm a PC Gamer. But I do have a Wii in the household, and I wanna start trading in this Trade Bait I got at the Harvey Norman Sale.
Some questions,
1. Can you trade in games from different consoles for the game you're buying e.g. I want Toy Story Mania on the Wii, can I trade a game for the 360/PS3 to go towards the trade?
2. How does the Trade system work? I've noticed some trade deals like 3 games and get this game free for new releases. How does it work for games that aren't on catalogues/website?
3. Wanting Toy Story Mania for the Wii, how many games would I need for a trade?
Cheers.

This would be a good place to start: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/trade-in/JB offer trade in deals where you can trade any games not on their exclusion list, for games off a list (like you can see on the site). Here is the exclusion list: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/excluded-games.pdfNormally, it is 3 games traded to get 1 new on the PS3 and the 360 and 2 games traded to get 1 for the Wii, although this has been varied in the past. Games have to be of the same console. This is what you saw on the website. Games you can use this deal with have stickers on the case at JB. It doesn't look like Toy Story is part of this deal, so you would end up having to do a normal trade (where they value each game and give you the appropriate amount of credit, which is usually pretty poor). In this case games don't have to be from the same console. There are exploits and with enough time and a bit of planning, you can come up with a more creative deal, say buy 3 xbox games, trade at JB for ODST and trade ODST at EB for credit to buy Toy Story price matched with JB. I am not sure if this would work at the moment, just giving an example. In some cases, you can buy second hand games at EB, trade them in at JB and trade the new game you got back in at EB for more than you paid for the first lot of games. This is like an infinite money/exp cheat in games and likewise is potentially tedious. Occasionally you can get a bit lucky with untrained or lazy staff, but that is more or less how it works.

1. trade the 3 xbox or ps3 games you have for the most expensive game with their trade-in deal (i recommend batman)
2. go back and exchange the game the next day for toy story mania
3. pocket the difference in store credit

Current trade deals end this Monday, they will usually post new deals that night or the next morning. Someone will see them and post them in the Shoutbox, so keep an eye out there. Also keep an eye out for an Exclusion List update, it tends to change every two weeks at the moment.

Thanks, I'll wait until after Monday to see if Toy Story will have a trade deal. If not I'll just see what I can do with a normal trade. However I've noticed, Further to this our NSW stores do not trade in towards any form of store credit (Gift Vouchers or otherwise). Since I live in NSW, how exactly can I get Store Credit. Or does that just mean you can't trade in games directly for Store Credit, but You'll get Store Credit if the game you're trading has a high value.

it means you can't trade it in directly for store credit, but you can return a trade game for store credit (i've done this many times and they'll even tell you if you want to return it don't remove the security seals)

It is store policy to be able to exchange a new game within 7 days. I've done this once and the receipt states: "Reason: Customer Changed Mind" So don't be concerned that they wont do it... As they're able to!

Moop is correct because yesterday when i tried doing this, the staff said i can only get my 3 traded games back. Since Batman was from a trade deal he can't give me store credit, as a result i traded it back and went to another JB and tried it again, this time it worked since the staff was a chick and quite cool about it. So i guess this little trick is a hit or miss, a little gamble, but it just really depends on the store and staff.

No, any staff member with half a brain will catch you out on trying to do this. Especially with a receipt showing how you acquired the free game, that you traded in for it. If you're trying to scam store credit based on this free title then you'd get the equivalent to the trade-in games individual value (not the same values as when bumped up to create the '3 for free')
EG: You trade in 3 Xbox 360 games to get Batman. Their values are increased to roughly $30 each for the sale to go through. You want to return Batman for store credit. You'll now get $12 for one game, $10 for another and $15 for the third game you used to trade. Although if you get a lazy or untrained staff member then you might get away with getting full credit...
well i have never once been rejected and i've done it a good 5-10 times, just did it yesterday in fact... they actually tell you that if i'd like to return the game it must be within 7 days and with the seal still in tact... if they weren't allowing it to happen they would say you aren't allowed to return trade-in games...

FACT: If you return the game within 7 days you are entitled to an exchange or in-store credit, if your game is not sealed, simply state, it's a gift, I got it like that. FACT: Multiple people have\are doing\done the return for in-store credit. Tip for young players: Get creative with your excuse of why you're returning it, and act dumb, don't act like a dodgy so-and-so looking for win out on a deal... Excuse Examples:I got this as a present and I already have this.... I bought this for my brother\sister\nephew\niece and they already have it... Target the chicks and you're home free, they generally don't care and will give you a gift card without bother, in most cases they won't give a stuff that it was a trade deal... Don't be concerned if they call a manager, they need a manager's code to enter in a return for in-store credit... Just use a bit of nous and creativity, I've done this a couple of times and have helped a mate do it a couple of times at different stores... Any other questions, just ask

Whilst you are trading in games for the 3 for 1 deal at JB, will they have a past record of your previous trade-ins appearing on the computer? If so, if you returned these games for store credit, are these past transactions (games for store credit) on the record as well?

JB are required by law under their second-hand dealer license to capture the information of the individual trading-in their games, due to dodgy people stealing games and then taking them to Cash Converters, etc. Sure they have the ability to check who is doing what how many times, but then to do this they would have to advise you and refer to their privacy policy if they used\stored the data for any other purpose. Trust me, I work for a legal firm and have intimate knowledge of Australian Privacy Law... If so, if you returned these games for store credit, are these past transactions (games for store credit) on the record as well?
Once you are given a receipt for your trade-in game, there is no correlation should you take this game back to a store. To any JB store, they don't care how you paid for the game. So there is no way of tracing this back to your original trade-in deal to obtain the game, for all they know it was a gift to you. The exchange for store credit is simply another transaction, an unrelated one without trace.

Is there a limit to how many games you can trade??
"Maximum 2 copies of any particular title." ? Means? Max 2 games?
Wonder if it's possible to keep tradeing and getting credit back to a tune of say $1000 then using that credit to buy a LCD TV or something?

The max I've seen done by a mate is 12 games(for 4 JB games) at the same time and the staff didn't bat an eyelid... You can use the same game multiple times, they will just make sure that 3 unique games are used in each trade... I can't see why not, the sky is the limit... Well, your patience is the limit...
