Passed by a JB Hi-Fi today and I decided to grab one of their brochures, especially since I wanted to have a look at their advertised games, since there was an entry on the front page of EcoGamer with unbelievably high prices for a lot of the newer games.

There was no games section at all in the brochure...first time I've seen that! So I decided to check out the online games catalogue from the JB Hi-Fi website.

I know I checked it two days ago and it was the same as the one that was on the first page. But tonight, I noticed a marked difference: a lot of games, especially the more expensive ones across the Wii, PS3 and 360, were no longer advertised, AND there was a drop in some prices, significantly about $40 cheaper for 360 Fracture and GTAIV for 360 and PS3 had gone down to $69 from $84.99.

JB's reaction to the backlash perhaps? Or they're still selling the newer games for $100+ but just not advertising it anymore? Not quite sure because I didn't actually step into the JB store to check prices.

Thanks for the info man, Ill put the new catalogue up Monday morning.

I heard on telly JB Hi-Fi is having financial troubles and had to lay people off. Im guessing these new prices are to try and make some much needed money. Hopefully by the end of the year JB will be back to normal.

No worries. Just thought it'd be something that people would be intersted in, considering what has already been discussed previously about the high prices in the old JB Hi-Fi catalogue.

JB seems to be making heaps of money off sales, but I think in reality, they don't actually make that much per item sold. Have a mate who works in JB, not off the store floor, but doing some IT stuff for them and he gets staff discounts, which allows him to buy stuff at cost price. And it seems that the sales price isn't too much more than the actual cost price.

Anyone know if EB are offering any "Trade 3 get it free" titles at the moment?  I have a bunch of games I want to trade.

EB seems to be taking a different trade route nowadays. They still seem to have those "Trade 2 get it free" deals in their latest catalogue, but the only titles that you can trade in are those newer ones that cost a fair bit anyways.

I do not like EB's new trade-in policy for the Wii games at all. Trade 3 games to get $10 value!? Trade 5 for $20 value?! Trade 7 for $30 value?!?!?! It gets worse than worse, plus you can't trade multiple copies of the same game!

If I could trade like three Wii Plays, maybe...

I stuffed up in my original post.  I should have asked if it was JBHiFi who had any trade-3-get-it-free deals.  I am guessing I was tired at the time.

Really, I thought it was original trade value of the 3 games + $10 Extra trade in credit. But if its that way, Gee EB Games are getting REALLY stingy with trade in values

Oops!  Lips sealed

I re-read it carefully and I think you're both right, Crispix and Dan: it's bonus credit received when you trade in Wii games.

I read it twice before actually posting here originally and was of the impression it was just that amount in trade-value when trading in a certain number of games. I wonder if anyone else have made that same mistake thinking you just got $10 of credit for trading in 3 games, $20 for 5 games, etc.

If I wasn't the only one making that mistake, EB needs to fix their advertising to make it that much clearer and remove any ambiguity!
