its a bit of a moot point the stickered price policy...
if he were to put a $2 sticker on it there's no chance they'd have to sell it for that price
and it also depends on what policies the store puts in place regarding their pricing, all stores are different...

No im pretty sure its a standard in Australian Retail. Obviously yeah a $2 sticker would raise a few questions.... but at the same time i've noticed JB hi-fi always have different prices on the same cd/game/dvd once i went in looking for a CD i found it in 3 different places with 3 different prices there was about a $10 difference from the cheapest to the most expensive.

When i worked at big w people would come in all the time and say they picked up this $100 product from the shelf where the price tag said $50 and even though it was a different item on the price tag most times we would have to sell it to them for the ticket price. Of course in some circumstances we didnt as it was obvious the item was not where they said it was or it was obvious that it was not the price.

With supermarkets such as coles, safeway/woolworths there is a policy that if the item scans up more than the ticket price you are intitled to it for free and if you had multiple items you then get those 50% off the ticket price..

yeah i've worked at both at coles and target (*sigh) and remember their policies, but if an item scans at the wrong price at target or big w, you don't get it for free where as at coles you do...so there are measures in place but different retail shops have different policies based on what products they sell...

they mostly honour the sticker price to a certain extent, but in extreme cases they don't have to...because if that were the case everyone would just place $2 stickers on everything and fight it...plus it really depends on the customer, most give up their cause and pay the regular price but then you get those who will argue until they get their way...

it's a pretty complicated matter but when you've worked in retail you deal with this sorta thing a lot...
