Hi all,

Most of you are probably aware of this already, but in case you aren't, the Welcome Back program on the Playstation Network was launched yesterday.

If you had a valid PSN account on 20 April 2011, you are eligible to download 2 free games out of 5 available on the PS3, and 2 free games out of 4 on the PSP. If you have both consoles, you get to download 4 games.

More info on the Welcome Back program here: http://au.playstation.com/welcomeback/

Members will have 30 days to download these free games, so download before the start of July; this promo should expire 3 July I think.

On top of that, valid account holders will also get free subscription to Playstation Plus for 30 days. Free games for Playstation Plus at the moment are the classic Streets of Rage 2 (with trophies!) and Burnout Paradise. Sadly, these free games will disappear from our accounts once the 30 day free period is over.

There is a lot of traffic on the PSN store so keep trying to get in!

There is also detailed information about how to download the free games (with some screenshots) from this website:

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/06/03/welcome-back-content-is-available-now-frequently-asked-questions-answered/

Also an FAQ which answers some common questions including how to choose the free Welcome Back games, and other questions related to Playstation Plus.

Ok, the reason why I wanted to start this thread is because I was having problems downloading the SECOND game for my PS3 and PSP. First game downloaded without any problem, but when I tried to download the second game, I just couldn't, because I couldn't find the link to the free games and when I DID find the games via the "Search" option, they all had prices on them that I had to pay to download!

This may be due to high traffic and the Network/store might kick you out, so I went online and I found something extremely helpful for those of us who have problems downloading their games from the Welcome Back Program.

1. On your PS3 or PSP, select "Account Management" (from the Playstation Network icon).
2. Select "Transaction Management".
3. Select "Services List".
4. Select "SCEA Promotions".
5. Select "PS3 Free games" for the PS3 games or "PSP Free games" for PSP games.
6. Select "Select content".
7. Choose your game to download!

I got this answer from the Playstation US blog:

http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/3428792?start=0&tstart=0

Also more information here, including how to go about downloading the games from the PSN store if you haven't downloaded any games previously:

http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=2408

Hope this helps guys! It was extremely frustrating to me last night/early yesterday morning when I thought I got cheated out of a free game, but my seccond game is currently downloading after following the instructions below. Happy downloading.

Also, if you take up your free PSN+ trail you can download Burnout Paradise, as it's free to PSN+ people this week.

Few things to note:

- There are 4 patches you need to download - took as long as downloading the game in the first place. Would chew up a lot of bandwith.

- It'll disappear when your month of PSN+ expires (if you don't sign up full time)

Does anyone know if you can get two of these games now but not download them until after the 30 days expire? I have bogus internet at the moment and so I can't really download a massive game.

As long as you 'purchase' them you can download them any time in the future. Just download and pause or cancel it. You can then resume it later or find it in your PSNStore history to re-download.

Yeah I thought I was being a noob for not being able to d/l the second game.  Will try the 7 steps to see if I can get Dead Nation as well.  (Infamous being the first one).

There is also Magic the Gathering: Dunes of the Planetwalkers (Trial + Full Game Add-on) and Blue Toad: Episode 1 for free as well.

I got LittleBigPlanet and Infamous. Or, at least I TRIED to get Infamous but it's 7Gb and I'm on a slow 3G mobile broadband (as opposed to most the broadband most people use), so I'l just have to download some other time...and when my monthly download limit resets.

Picked up LBP and ModNation Racers for PSP.

Charlie: Thanks for the info about Burnout Paradise. I was considering downloading that, but with four patches eating into my bandwidth, I'm doing to have to give that a miss. Streets of Rage 2 is only 32Mb though! Played it last night again...ah, great memories.

Does anyone know if we keep the trophies earned from Playstation Plus free games once our free Playstation+ membership trial disappears?

quackster: Believe me, I felt pretty stupid myself when I couldn't find the icon to allow me to download the second game. I downloaded LBP for PS3 and LBP for PSP at the same time and I thought I had screwed something up and my account "thought" that my two free games had been downloaded. Hence the online search and me finding a way to download the second game.

It's probably coz of the high traffic in the Store at the moment, which will be that way for a while methinks.
