In a word, Batman 3D is 'ok'.

I loved the 3D in Avatar, it added depth, popped off the screen and was in full colour and know without an expensive TV regular glasses wouldn't compare but am still a little disappointed with Batman.

Mainly because the company who does the glasses and new type of 'basic' 3D said you'd still get full colour but with green and red glasses, you still get an overall green and red tint to the game. It is better than the average green/blue dvd's like Monsters VS Aliens etc though.

In 3D mode it definitely adds a bit of depth, especially noticeable around Batman and on the combo scores which 'almost' pop off the screen at times. But the cost is some over-blurring of distant objects and characters not seen in the regular, non-3D mode. The backgrounds also have a jaggy, green and red look about them and unlike Avatar, a near 3 hour movie which I saw 4 times in the cinema, an hour playing in 3D mode hurt my eyes and head quite a bit.

So overall, nice gimmick just to see what real 3D games will look like in 6-12 months on proper tv's but not worth buying just for the 3D mode. If you don't have the game, get it (i got mine from 365 for about $45, but if you already have/had the game, the 3D isn't worth paying for alone.

So this worked on your normal tv. Not a 3d tv? I assume thats the case since Oz dont have 3dtv yet. I reckon it would look better on a tv designed for 3d rendering.

Yes it works on your stock standard TV (its old school Red - Green 3D like old 50s-60s drive in movies).

Im a little concerned how negative this review is, I mean its 3D on your standard TV. You cant be expecting much! Oh, also im not saying I know everything about 3D but I do create 3D content and multimedia graphics for a living. And I do know not to expect much from 3D TVs for at least 3-4 years the first few gens will be rubbish with bulky headache causing glasses.

What everyone needs to be waiting for is the Passive glass systems which isnt available anywhere yet! Its basically a Polarized Light system for TVs (works the way 3D works at the Cinema). Which will probably be ready in about 2-3 years... But till then I wont even consider 3D TVs.

Trust me you will not want to own an 'Active glass systems' which is just about to be released they cause MASIVE Migraines.

Make sure you have some Panadols handy next to you when you play this game.

Few points:

1. It won't look any different on a proper 3D tv.

2. I knew it wouldn't look great, because it's pretty much old school 3D done in a new way, but I'm still allowed to be negative, a lot of people were waiting to buy the game for a second time just to play it in 3D so I wanted them to know what I thought at least.

3. Yes, Panadol is needed lol!

4. The few good moments do show great potential for proper 3D games/TV's in the future (Samsung 3D tv's hit Australia next week but there's no content yet, plus the Panasonic TV's have been getting MUCH better reviews....).
