I'm still wondering why Mass effect 1 and bioshock 1 aren't on the list.  Are they really selling THAT well?  They are like the top 2 trade baits, since pretty much every eB has piles of them.

I think its cause of their highly anticipated sequels people may be wanting to also pick up the 1st game of the series

The list was updated because some of the pre-owned games were not on the exclusion list. People were buying three pre-owned games for $14 dollars and then going to another JB store to get the latest trade in deals. That's why we have a new exclusion list.

I had a quick browse today and found some of those $14 pre-owned games were around $24 and upwards.

And I'm sure JB games staff are reading these forums.

Galvatron (and others) quit being so paranoid... even if JB staff members do use this site (and yes I'm sure some of their staff do) I doubt they waste their time updating exclusion lists based on any "trade bait" recommendations that are posted here or anywhere else.... it's all about stock control.  If they get too many copies of a game (and the definition of "too many" can vary greatly depending on sales history and projected sales) they will put it onto the exclusion list because it isn't good practice to get overstocked on games that sell very poorly.

Just thought I'd share something: http://www.smh.com.au/business/jb-hifi-profit-keeps-on-rockin-20100208-nnc9.html

Profit up 28.8%.... They could not care less about trade bait recommendations Smiley

would the staff even care? they can use the deal for themselves. =)
they work there because they need a job.. and so saving money on games would be a bonus to them. the only people that would probably care are the managers imo.

Yeah cos if they were reading forums and updating that way then they would have updated the list before bioshock 2 came out since the EB sale started before then. Then they'll prolly check the forums to see if they missed any Tongue but yeah they updated like twice in a week they could just have done it all at once but yeah I suppose some staff would be taking advantage of it since I hear them all the time snatching up deals for themselves first (like everywhere else) and also not sure if its true can one of the JB staff reading this site confirm Tongue do you really get 20% staff discount ?

Stock control? Fair enough.

I'm just showing one example (or loophole they closed) which I found out through a gaming friend on Friday. Managed to get Bioshock 2 by buying 3 x $14 JB pre-owned games  that weekend. Then they update their exclusion list with $14 titles the following Tuesday.

Coincidence. Maybe.

Could have been that massive influx of $14 titles over the weekend as well. Wink

When you buy trade bait from JB to trade to JB, do you bother to rip the stickers off? Because they are damn stubborn.

Yes, I remove the stubborn stickers.

I don't bother ripping off the stickers.  If the game is not on their exclusion list, and is scannable by their computer, then they have to accept them anyway.

It's great stuff, works a treat on CD cases (and even on labels applied to the centre ring of DVD's - few things as annoying as buying an ex-rental DVD and having to try and peel of tiny labels... thankfully videoezy don't seem to do that as often).

I always remove the stickers too, (especially price labels) I think it'd be just a little arrogant to rub JB's faces in it when you can pick up a new game for <$50 thanks to the "trade 3" offer.

Amazed by the shear number of games released in the last two or three months on the list.
