I go to the GAME in Southland in VIC, i agree that it is clean and empty most of the time. However i've always found the service to be quite good. Believe it or not the main sales girl is a quite a looker, and i'm pretty sure she'd rate quite well amongst single gamers. She often helps out customers and can hold an in-depth conversation about games which was quite a shock at first. I don't know if shes "into" games, or that shes well trained, but i'd have to disagree with the original poster on the service in this respect.

Obviously being a member of this site, i only go in there to check her out  Grin Grin Grin

Compared to the EB in southland which is almost directly opposite, the store layout and staff are "ok". Staff are generally flat out on weekends and stuff is everywhere.

I guess the point of my post is that you havent been to the right GAME Store.

If you pay around $688 + a game or 2, this about the retail market price.

You can get overseas Japanese models for about $550 in both black + white.

In regards to your HD space question, you can actually replace the hard drive with a bigger one. Its really easy, so if u get the chance buy a cheap 40GB model and replace the hard drive to save a few $$$. Theres no difference between the 40, 80 or 160 models. besides the HD space.

The other difference is that the 40 and 60 come with a sixaxis controller and all the new ones come with the DS3

Good pick up.... i just meant the PS3 consoles. Smiley

Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires for $59 - JB...

Would have bought it online and save a few $$$, but was too impatient.
23  Discussion Categories / Non-Gaming / Re: How do you buy most of your games? on: June 30, 2009, 01:33:45 PM
certainly online is the way to go if you want to save a minimum of 20% per purchase. More if you know where to go.

I only purchase at a retailer if i'm desperate to play and dont want to wait 2 weeks, or when i have a gift voucher i must use.

that usually happens if your not early enough. you need to be one of the first pre orders to get it on time.

Ok heres another site for the list:

Stomp2.com

This site is basically the same as CD Wow, (run by the same people) same structure and products. You might think that their prices are lower but its not, its in USD. After conversion its the same as CD Wow Australia.

Average prices for new games: $54-$63.99 USD + FREE postage.
Average prices for older games: <$40 USD  + Free postage.
Payment Methods: Credit Card
Transport Time: Usually 2 weeks on standard postage.
Recommendation: You recieve the same buyer experience as CD Wow. I suggest you purchase from this site when the Aussie Dollar is high (you mite save some $$ through currency arbitrage) or else your better off purchasing from CD Wow to avoid the currency conversion.

Hi All,

Just compiling a list of popular game sites where you can import games from and a short description. To help new comers buy games from reputable sites from overseas. Love to see other peoples lists....

Play Asia
Popular asian games site that has stable prices and a weekly special that comes out every Wednesday.

Average prices for new games: $54-$64 USD + $3.90 USD postage.
Average prices for older games: <$40 USD  + $3.90 USD postage.
Payment Methods: Paypal, Credit Card, Bank Deposits (for Australians)
Transport Time: Usually 2 weeks on standard postage.
Recommendation: Definately buy from this site when you have a $5-10 voucher or when the Aussie Dollar is up. And I recommend direct deposit into their bank account in Australia as that way you avoid the currency conversion fees.

dvd.co.uk
UK based site that sells DVD, Games & Electronics.

Average prices for new games: ?30-?50 + ?1.00 postage.
Average prices for older games: <?15 + ?1.00 postage.
Payment Methods: Credit Card
Transport Time:2 weeks or less
Recommendation: Great for the older games that you've missed out on, new release games are a decent price and generally cheaper than Australian Retailers. Sometimes they have 2 for ?25 or 2 for ?30.

365games.co.uk
UK based site that sells video games and accessories, looks like a no-frills video game site.

Average prices for new games: ?30-?50 + ?0.50 postage.
Average prices for older games: <?15 + ?0.50 postage.
Payment Methods: Credit Card, Paypal
Transport Time: 2 weeks or less (quicker than dvd.co.uk)
Recommendation: Similar to dvd.co.uk, but sometimes you might find things cheaper. They also sell on ebay, however their postage is $8.99, but at least you pay in Australian dollars via paypal thru bank deposit or CC.

CD WOW
Australia version of CD Wow UK, selling video games, dvds, etc.

Average prices for new games: $70-$89 + FREE postage.
Average prices for older games: <$50 + FREE postage.
Payment Methods: Credit Card, Paypal
Transport Time: 2 weeks or less (although it looks Australian, you'll get UK Pal / NTSC games from Hong Kong, strange)
Recommendation: Has been unpopular lately due to stock shortages, and delays in postage, however you'll get what you ordered one day. You'll generally save a few $$, but if you're impatient go to JB-HiFi. Once waited 5 weeks for a game to come in. Finally, wait till Friday before placing an order, they usually take $2-$5 off on Fridays storewide or release a coupon thru email.

Sendit.com
Another UK site, similar to dvd.co.uk. Haven't bought from here, but they occaisionally have nice sales.

Average prices for new games: ?30-?50 + ?1.60 postage.
Average prices for older games: <?15 + ?1.60 postage.
Payment Methods: Credit Card, Cheque
Transport Time: 2 weeks or less (assume)
Recommendation: Great for the older games that you've missed out on, they sometimes have crazy sales and you mite find the same game ?1-2 less, than 365games and dvd.co.uk.

Yesasia.com
Hong Kong dvd, video games site. Generally quite expensive and sells items at RRP.

Average prices for new games: $60+ USD
Average prices for older games: Varies. (some of the older games are at full price)
Payment Methods: Credit Card, Paypal
Transport Time: 2 weeks or less
Recommendation: Not highly recommended but a reputable site, they might have a crazy sale from time to time. Check in on it from time to time.
