Well it's finally over, the last round of our BioShock 2 competition has been judged and the lucky winner has been notified. So who won? Why not check out the full article to find out. You can also check out all the other entries - they are quite entertaining.

We'd like to thank 2K Games for providing the prizes and everyone who took the time to make an entry. The judges had fun reading them.

Vortex Ability:

  • Summon a vortex that pulls enemies within its area of effect towards it.
  • At a medium distance from the vortex, the pulling force slows down enemies moving against it. Enemies within a small distance will be sucked in at a progressively faster rate.
  • Levelling the Vortex plasmid will introduce the ability to disarm enemies, suck in environmental objects (which can inflict small to considerable damage depending on the enemy's position within the vortex's vicinity) and inflict weak damage at a slow rate (albeit only when the enemy is directly in the centre of the vortex). The area of effect and strength of the vortex also increases with each level.

Strategies:

  • Use in combination with other plasmid abilities! Use 'Telekinesis' to throw objects or enemies into the vortex, 'Incinerate' for concentrated heavy damage, 'Winter Blast' to decrease enemy resistance and 'Electro Bolt' to spread stun effect to nearby enemies (within vortex or not).
  • Use this ability wisely due to its large EVE consumption. Offensively, Vortex can be used to pull in mobs so you can attack them all at once OR if you're in a pickle, utilise Vortex to slow down those splicers and make a run for it.

Plasmid general description: Assimilate into an enemy and assume control of the body. A moderate proportion of health is leeched at a gradual rate.

Plasmid abilities and mechanics: Plasmid can only be used on splicers.Must lower enemy's health for plasmid to be successful.Once successful, you can freely control the host body. Plasmids are unusable when ability is activated; strictly weapons only.Small portions of health leeched at a constant rate. Ability deactivates once a moderate portion of health is leeched or when health is maxed (possible for ability to last for only a second).

Ability is also deactivated when host body sustains a limited amount of damage.Long cool down period. Can't use Parasite plasmid until cool down period expires.Enemies won't attack as long as host body does not make eye contact. If eye contact is made, the enemy will attack and others will follow suit. Large EVE usage that increases with level. Host body able to sustain more damage with increasing level as well as chance of enemies of enemies not being provoked by eye contact.

Use depending on situation. Hide in a secure location and leech host body to full extent when health is low; Jump right into combat and get a damage advantage against enemies or even use as a substitute for damage when trying to escape from mobs.

*Strip! lvl 1* *Casting Cost:* Approximately 50 EVE *Damage Done:* None *Description: *Strips the splicers of their armor and clothing (not undergarments ;) causing them to cower and run away in embarrassment.

*Strip! lvl 2* *Casting Cost:* Approximately 75 EVE *Damage Done:* None *Description**: *Same as level 1 but works on Houdini and Spider splicers

*Strip! lvl 3* *Casting Cost:* Approximately 100 EVE *Damage Done:* None *Description**: *Same as level 2 but Brutes are now also affected.

*Winter Blast*

*Level 1* – Throw a ball of ice, freezing foes for a brief period.

*Level 2* – Charge up and attack to freeze a foe in a solid block of ice. They remain frozen for longer and can be used as a telekenisis projectile.

*Level 3* – Charge up for a beam of ice attack. Also, single shots cause enemies to become a solid block of ice.
