Due to the influx of traffic over the last couple of days I thought I would put together a bit of an article about Economical Gamer as the site's creator and main contributor.

Let me know what you think, but I believe the most interesting topic is going to be the new beta system that will be previewed live on Saturday night! I hope you come by to check it out.

Last month the new Bargain Chat was introduced, when the whole thing was movedĀ  over to Twitter. This change brings with it many new ways to read and post to the chat, but was also sudden enough to be met with a bit of resistance from the community.

With the end of financial year sales just beginning it would be senseless to ignore the new Bargain Chat because it is different. Give Twitter a go and see what powerful new options are possible.

Set yourself up to never miss another bargain again. This article has some examples of ways you can interact with the new Bargain Chat.

If you hadn't had your fix of zombie massacres from the myriad of shooters that now contain undead, then The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned downloadable content for Borderlands offers you the opportunity to explode brains using your unique arsenal collected through the core Borderlands game. R18+ for Games - Public Consultation

Normally at Economical Gamer, we stick to what we do well - games bargains - and don't report on much else. However, recent circumstances push us to publish this important news.

The Attorney-General's Department have released their long-awaited discussion paper on the introduction of an R18+ classification for games. This document requests submissions from the public.

Drafting a submission may sound like a lot of effort, but it's not. There is a template document available on the website, all you need to do is fill in your details, and indicate your opinion regarding several statements already pre-filled for you. There is also a comments section at the bottom for an extended response.

R18+ classification is an issue that affects all gamers, and I would strongly suggest that as many of you as possible make a submission, and get your voice heard. The statements they ask you to assess are quite broad - on this note, I would guess that numbers of responses are what's going to count in this consultation.

Please, take 5 minutes to make a submission. Forward the link around to friends and family. The Attorney-General's Department have given us an opportunity to voice our opinion, let's not waste it.

Importing Games (Site Highlight)

With the Australian dollar nearing parity (0.92USD, last I checked!), it's a fantastic time for Ecogamers who are ordering their games from overseas. It's a rare opportuniy where we can take advantage of both lower prices and high exchange rates.

Gamers who are used to buying their games from brick-and-mortar retail stores may be understandably nervous about importing. Are the games region locked? Will it affect multiplayer? How do I buy DLC?

So, I'm opening up the floor to the EG Community. Have hints or tips to share about importing, and the things you need to be wary of when doing so? Please, post a comment below, and help your fellow Ecogamer save some hard-earned cash.
